Danesha “Dani” Wallace is a Bakersfield, California community leader, full-spectrum multi-regional doula, certified community health worker, yoga teacher, and mat Pilates instructor. A proud wife and mother of five, she has supported birthing families since 2005 and is deeply committed to advancing maternal and infant health equity.

Dani teaches free yoga and Pilates classes to the community in collaboration with the Blue Zones Project Bakersfield and also offers free wellness classes at local schools and community programs. She serves as a Strategic Advisor for the California Coalition for Black Birth Justice and as a Youth Women’s Empowerment Advisor for the Kern High School District. Dani is also the Founder of The Labor League, a collaborative group of doulas, nurses, professors, and local OB-GYNs working together to improve maternal health outcomes and strengthen relationships between community birth workers and medical providers, co-developed with fellow birth workers and medical professionals.

Dani has helped train doulas across California, including in Oakland/San Leandro, Los Angeles, and the Inland Empire. In Bakersfield, she founded, led, and facilitated a community doula training that graduated the largest cohort of doulas in Kern County history. With nearly two decades of birth work experience, she continues building pathways for community-based birth workers, serving families and is currently pursuing midwifery training as part of her ongoing commitment to improving maternal health outcomes.
